Here are some of the stories we're reading today:

- The Detroit Free Press reports that the U.S. State Department has issued a permit for the new international bridge crossing from Detroit to Canada. Ambassador Bridge owner Matty Moroun, who has opposed an additional crossing, is hoping to move up his lawsuit to block construction.

- NBC News reports on former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords' pushback against NRA lobbying against a new gun background check bill. Giffords was shot last year during a meet and greet with constituents.

- The BBC has an article about Secretary of State John Kerry warning North Korea about a proposed missile test launch, while downplaying a CIA report that the country could have miniaturized a nuclear device to the point where it could be mounted on a missile.
