What they can never take away
We never know what the world is going to throw at us.
Sometimes our lives can change in the blink of an eye and we may have never seen what was coming.
I have always told myself that I wanted to live my life to the fullest and enjoy everything about it, and to this point I feel like I have done a pretty good job. Not to say that I wouldn’t change anything.
But no matter what we do, no one can take away our memories.
Good or bad, we always have the memories.
My grandmother always tells me that the one thing that no one can take from you is your education. I have always remembered those words. This past week I learned something else that can’t be taken away: my memories.
No matter what happens to me in my life, I always have me memories. Where I go, they travel.
My memories are with my like information in a computer.
Anyone I meet can learn something from me based on my memories. There is always a story to tell or a moment to be shared.
I like to think about all of my best memories. The first time I drove a car when I was 11, (thanks Dad); my first trip to a Lakers game; the time I met Tony Stewart; even my first adult beverage are all memories that are unique to me.
Although we can never exactly recreate our memories, we can live our lives based on what those memories teach us.
We can improve and become better people; we can go back to that place and reminisce about the good times that were had.
And when something or someone is taken from us, they live on in our hearts and our minds because of the memories that they gave to us.
Life is never easy. It is never exactly the way we want it to be, but we continue to move forward and make new memories.
I am always going to remember the past, and will remember the best of what my future has in store for me.
It won’t always be easy for us to move forward, but we will. God knows that we will always have to move forward. But that does not mean that once in a while, when we are at deer camp telling stories about the buck we just shot, that we can’t go back and reminisce about that first deer we brought home and the feeling that moment gave us.
So remember what you will always have, what they can’t take from you. I know what I have, and I will cherish all of my experiences for the rest of my life.
