WOLVERINE - Dec. 8, 2008 - Whittemore-Prescott dropped its season-opener at Wolverine didn't end the way the Cardinals hoped as they dropped a 39-32 non-conference decision.

"We played really good defense," said W-P coach Bob Leslie. "They didn't really score anything out of half-court; it was mostly off of fast breaks. We just didn't score enough ourselves."

A 16-8 second quarter gave Wolverine a 24-17 halftime lead.

Billy Raushi scored 10 points and Chris Downes added eight for the Cardinals (0-1).
