WHITTEMORE — Monday Sept. 8, 2008 — The Lady Cards received an all-around team effort as they overwhelmed Lincoln-Alcona in three straight sets.

“We were over due for this,” Coach Helen Loomis said. “All team members contributed in a positive way.”

Games one and two were controlled from the outset by Whittemore-Prescott as they won 25-14 and 25-17.

Game three saw a different beginning as the Lady Tigers jumped out to an early lead. W-P gathered themselves after a few bad breaks and took the lead 16-15. Both teams battled passionately for the back-and-forth lead before the Lady Cards finished off the Tigers 25-20.

Coach Helen Loomis was happy with her team’s mental toughness, especially in the serving department.

“We served (more) aggressively and consistently,” Loomis said. “We need to feed off this and continue to improve.”

W-P Stats: Cortney Bork – 6 points/3 aces/8 digs; Kayla Camp – 18 points/8 aces/16 assists/6 digs; Chelsea Jasman – 9 points/4 aces/2 block-kills; Leighanna Loomis – 11 digs/6 spike-kills; Larissa McGeathy – 3 block-kills/4 spike-kills; Chloe Moraitis – 4 spike kills.

W-P (0-2, 2-4) matches up against conference competitor Bangor John Glenn on Sept. 10.
