W-P can't hang with Tawas

TAWAS AREA — Whittemore-Prescott's boys basketball team stayed with Tawas Area for a quarter on Friday, but the Braves' big second quarter was more than the Cards could overcome as Tawas rolled to a 69-37 victory.

W-P hit three 3-pointrs in the opening quarter -- two by Billy Raushi and one by Kyle Saunders -- as Tawas edged out to a 20-14 lead.

But that all changed in the second period as six Braves scored -- led by eight points from Jesse Siwek -- while Raushi's nine points accounted for all of W-P's offense.

All 10 Braves who suited up scored, led by D.J. Decker with 18 points, Travis Simmons with 13 and Siwek with 12. Kurtis Branham and Brandon Brodt each had 14 rebounds.

Raushi led the Cards with 17, followed by Tristan Kohlhoff with seven.
