Voters to cast ballots Nov. 3
ARENAC COUNTY — Another election approaches, as this year in Arenac County, voters will cast their ballots for candidates for Omer City Council, Standish City Council and Arenac Eastern’s Board of Education and non-homestead millage.
In the city of Omer, voters will choose between Susan Hegenauer and Sue Oliver for city clerk. All other seats are uncontested.
In Standish, voters supporting some candidates, as two write-ins have filed for the election.
In Ward III, incumbent Jerry Nelson’s name will appear on the ballot, however, the race is not uncontested, as city resident Donna Bouldin has filed as a write-in.
The Mayoral race, which features current council member Mark Winslow, is also contested, despite the name of the second candidate, Dave Munson, not appearing on the ballot. Munson filed as a write-in.
No other Standish City Council seats feature contested races.
As for the Arenac Eastern School District, voters will decide whether or not they will support the 18-mill non-homestead millage, which is expected to generate about $279,000 for the district in 2010. The millage would be renewed for 2010 – 2012.
Two candidates – Jerry Hollenbeck and Sue Wilson – have filed for two vacant school board seats on the AE Board of Education.
