Vincent sentenced to prison

STANDISH — Robert Vincent III, 23, was sentenced to five to 10 years in prison during a motion hearing and sentencing in 23rd Circuit Court Wednesday, Nov. 13.

Vincent, of Long Lake, pleaded guilty to assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder in late September, and was scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 30. However, he filed a motion to withdraw the guilty plea, which was denied in court.

Vincent reportedly stabbed a man in Sterling near Cliff’s Bar during an altercation in June.

Along with the prison time, Vincent has to pay fines and costs of more than $10,000, with $8,852 of the fines coming by way of medical restitution.

In return for Vincent’s guilty plea, one count of assault with intent to commit murder, one count of lying to a police officer and three counts of assault and battery were dismissed by the prosecution.
