ARENAC COUNTY — Some county Verizon customers are reporting a cell service outage in parts of Arenac County.

According to Chris Barbb at Central Dispatch, AT&T appears to have service and emergency services in the county are not being disrupted.

Paul Ulreich, Verizon public relations manager for Michigan, Indiana and Kentucky, said a fiber optic line was cut in the Bay City area by a local telecommunications company.

“The location of the cut has been identified and crews are on site to repair it,” he said. “We are not entirely sure what caused the cut, but I was told it affected customers in the City Area. I don’t have an exact county list.”

Ulreich said he is unsure how long the repairs will take.

“I do not have an (estimated time of repair) yet,” he said. “There are crews working on it right now.”
