SIMS TWP. – An accident Wednesday, Nov. 9 on US-23 near Delano Road in Sims Township has left two drivers hospitalized.

Undersheriff Don McIntyre said that the crash occurred at about 3:17 p.m. when a Silverado was rear-ended by a Chevy SUV on US-23 northbound. The Silverado had slowed down for deer in the road, he said, when the SUV crashed into it.

He said the department did not have the names of the drivers yet, but there were no passengers in either vehicle. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.

No citations had been issued yet as the investigation is still ongoing. Both drivers were transported to St. Joseph Hospital in Tawas.

The road was cleaned up in less about an hour and twenty minutes, McIntyre said.
