Two charged in robbery at market appear for preliminary examination

STANDISH — Two men facing larceny charges in connection with the robbery of a woman at Glen’s Market on Dec. 29, appeared in front of 81st District Court Judge Allen Yenior Monday, Jan. 24, for their preliminary examinations.

The cases of Dale A. Janz Jr., 20, and Joshua W. Gibson, 21, both of Standish, were bound over to 23rd Circuit Court at their preliminary examinations Monday. Both Gibson and Janz are scheduled for arraignment on Feb. 2 in front of 23rd Circuit Court Judge Ronald Bergeron.

Janz and Gibson are charged with robbing the woman while she was shopping using a mobility scooter.

On Jan. 18, presiding District Court Judge Richard E. Vollbach Jr. had Gibson’s bond reset to $50,000, or 10 percent cash surety. Gibson is currently in jail at the Arenac County Sheriff’s Department. Vollbach had Janz’s bond amended to $8,000, or 10 percent cash surety, and has been released on bond.
