STANDISH — The Arenac County Sheriff’s Department arrested two people Oct. 16 for a series of alleged breaking and entering cases in the area.
Justin Jay Scholtz, 28, and Kristin Lynn Walther, 27, of Standish were arrested and charged with five counts of breaking and entering with intent, receiving and concealing stolen property, and possession of a controlled substance, according to Undersheriff Don McIntyre.
McIntyre said the sheriff’s department received a phone call on the location of possible stolen property on Grove Street in Standish, and once on-scene, they found stolen items from several Arenac County businesses and one Ogemaw County business.
“Stolen property was recovered from locations such as Dean’s Bait and Tackle, Lynch’s Produce, Autovalue, and Family Fare,” McIntyre said.
McIntyre said deputies also found burglary tools and narcotics on the property, and took the suspects into custody after performing interviews with them.
McIntyre said more charges are likely to be filed as the investigation continues. He said the sheriff’s office is in the process of tracking down owners of the other recovered items.
