Au GRES — The Arenac Community Fund’s annual trivia night was held in the Au Gres Knights of Columbus Hall Feb. 23, and ultimately raised more than $3,200 for its scholarship endowment fund for Arenac County students.

“We were thrilled again with the many teams who came out for the trivia fun and to support our college-bound students,” ACF Chairwoman Ronda Switek said in a statement.”

Switek said competition was fierce, as only one point differentiated the top three teams in the contest. The Spartans team finished in first, with the Screaming Eagles in second and the Floripondio team in third. The Spartans consisted of Jacki Brus, Lori Brus, Clinton Fitzgerald, Jennifer Gehlmann, Adam Kroczaleski, Lynn Schmidt, and Matthew Schmidt.

According to Garrett Geer, ACF trustee, all of the proceeds from the trivia night went toward the scholarship fund, which is open to qualifying Arenac County students. The ACF reports that it has given out $17,000 in scholarships since its founding.

Switek said planning is underway for next year’s trivia night, which is being scheduled for Feb. 22, 2014, and registration is already open to any teams interested in participating. People interested in registering can contact Switek at 989-846-5205, Geer at 989-397-3959, or Dale Wiess at 989-903-5272.
