STANDISH — A fire at Sunrise Disposal will cause delays in trash pick up for the City of Standish.

Interim City Manager Curt Hillman said a fire over the weekend at Sunrise Disposal’s Tawas location has destroyed all of the company’s trucks and building.

“At this time they have nothing,” he said.

Garbage in the city is scheduled for pick up I Mondays but will now be delayed until the company can find trucks to rent.

Hillman said city residents are advised to keep their trash at the end of their driveways until it can be picked up.

“They will be out when they can,” he said.

A representative from Sunrise Disposal could not be reached for comment.

LOL. Mr. Hillman is showing his inexperience. Did he bother to ask Sunrise where exactly they can "rent" garbage trucks? Or what it costs to rent, and whether Sunrise has the money and resources to do so while the insurance claim is being processed? I'd assume that renting "x" amount of garbage trucks on a weekly basis is massively expensive and is going to financially cripple Sunrise, unless their insurance company steps up and moves fast (which isn't likely).
