Tractor and car show moves to fairgrounds this weekend
STANDISH — People who want to check out a wide selection of tractors and cars will have their chance June 27-28 at the Arenac County Fairgrounds during the Sunrise Side Antique Tractor Club’s annual tractor show.
Event organizer Brian Preger said the show begins at 8 a.m. and goes until 5 p.m. or 6 p.m. both days. He said the event was previously held at Deer Acres in Pinconning and used to be solely a tractor show.
“We normally had it down at Deer Acres, the last few years, but we expanded it up here because there’s a little more room,” he said.
According to Preger, 50 or 60 tractors are typically entered into the show. There is no cost to enter a car or tractor, he said.
“Friday and Saturday morning they can just register the morning of the show,” he said.
Winners usually receive plaques, Preger said.
There are other activities planned for the event, according to Preger.
“We also have a kids’ petting zoo that is going to be there both days, from like 1 to 5 p.m.,” he said. “We’re also going to have a barrel train that is going to be pulled by a lawn mower.”
Friday night at 6 p.m. a live band will be playing during a barn dance in the fair pavilion, Preger said.
Saturday at noon a tractor pull is scheduled in the fair grandstands, he said.
Vendor spaces are available for the tractor show, Preger said. Tables are $10 for outside booths and $20 for inside booths, he said.
Tickets are $4 for adults, and admission covers entrance to the dance and tractor pulls. Children 10 and younger get in the show free.
