TWINING — Arenac Eastern once again played tough against one of the North Star League's top teams, at least for a long stretch of the contest.

But once again it wasn't quite enough. Hillman outscored AE 17-6 in the second quarter Friday, which proved to be most of the difference in the Tigers' 69-54 victory over the Eagles.

"Once again we outscored them in the second half," said AE coach Bob Morgan. One thing I was very happy with was the hustle that our team showed. They really played hard the entire game and they never quit, even when we were down 16."

The Eagles trailed 18-13 after the first quarter, but Hillman's second quarter burst made it 35-20 at the half. Eastern won the second half 35-34 but couldn't trim much off Hillman's lead.

Myron Tracey led Hillman (9-3, 6-2 North Star League) with 17 points, with Andrew Smith adding 16.

Graham Morgan paced the Eagles (1-11, 0-8) with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Joe Kramer added 10 points, with Nick Phelan and Brad King each scoring eight.
