TAWAS AREA - Oct. 6, 2008 - Tawas Area wrapped up its 10th North East Michigan Conference boys soccer title in the 12 seasons the league has offered soccer as a conference sport, blanking Pinconning 8-0 on Monday.

"We are very happy," said Tawas coach Ken Cook. "This is a great group of guys, they have worked hard and are adapting well to what we are asking of them."

The Braves scored six goals in the first half to lock up the decision.

Cody Jordan scored three goals, Arvid Trapp added two and Braden Kauffman, Ian Morton and Kurtis Branham added one apiece. Matt Stonehouse had two assists.

Nick Hulea and J.D. Putz combined in goal for the shutout. Tawas improved to 13-3-2 (9-0 NEMC) and holds a two-game lead over John Glenn with one league contest yet to play.

Kyle Sanford had 18 saves and Beri Bragiel added three for Pinny (1-16, 1-8).
