Standish man killed in tractor accident

TURNER — A Standish resident was killed in a tractor rollover accident Jan. 17 while working at Turner Bean & Grain.

At about 2:04 p.m., Brian Gene Petri, 36, of Standish was operating a front end loader type tractor when he drove it too close to the incline of a ditch, Undersheriff Don McIntyre reported. The incline caused the tractor to roll over into the drainage ditch, pinning Petri underneath.

The Arenac County Sheriff’s Department responded to the accident, and Petri was announced dead upon arrival. The accident is currently under investigation.
