ARENAC COUNTY — The Standish VFW post and American Legion members started off Memorial Day with solemn ceremonies at area cemeteries throughout the morning, followed by a visit to veterans at MediLodge in Sterling.

The members then held the annual Standish Memorial Day Parade, which made its way down M-61 to the Arenac County building on Grove, where a short memorial service was held. Refreshments were then served at the local posts for veterans and members of the public alike.
