Standish-Sterling School Board election set

STANDISH — The deadline for registering for the Standish-Sterling School District School Board election passed at 4 p.m. today. The election was made necessary by the recent recall of three board members.

According to the Arenac County Clerks Office, there are five registrants, who are hoping to fill the three spots left vacant by recalled members Brenda Golimbieski, Kim Koin and Gary McFarland.

Two people are running uncontested for two of the terms, while the remaining three are vying for the same seat.

Ronald Bartlett is running uncontested for the partial team ending on December, 31, 2010, while Melanie Raymond-Sobieray is running for the partial term that ends on the same date in 2012.

Allen Howard Schmidt, Annette Ratajczak, and Sarah Brandenburg will compete against each other for the partial term ending on Dec. 31, 2011.

More information to come.
