Standish-Sterling FFA team wins bronze at National Convention

INDIANAPOLIS — The state-winning FFA Parliamentary Procedure squad — consisting of Standish-Sterling 2009 graduates Jackie Anderson, McKaylyn Mitrzyk, Rachel Baker, Jane Osier, Jessica Stoner, Makenzie LaBeau and Arika White — competed at the FFA National Convention in Indianapolis during Oct. 21-24.

The all-girl group took home a bronze medal in the competition, which operated under a different set of rules than that of Michigan. Washington, Tennessee, Puerto Rico, Kentucky, Kansas and Virginia were among the teams in Michigan’s division. Only the top 12 teams are ranked at the national contest and the rest are awarded gold, silver or bronze.

Read more about the team's accomplishments and trip to Indianapolis in the Nov. 4 issue of the Independent.
