It was a wild night for area girls basketball teams in district tournament play. Ogemaw Heights outlasted Standish-Sterling in a 75-71 Class B barnburner to earn a spot in Friday's district title game against Tawas Area, which held off Gladwin. In Class C, Whittemore-Prescott won its second district tournament game after winning just twice all season, eliminating Hale and earning a district title game berth against Alcona. But the prize of the night went to Class D Arenac Eastern (pictured), which won the first girls basketball district title in school history with a 46-34 victory over Fairview.
