SSCS schedules meet and greet with Kroczaleski
Pinconning names Vieau acting super
STANDISH — Parents, students and community members will have the opportunity to meet new Standish-Sterling Community Schools Superintendent Darren Kroczaleski at a meet and greet Wednesday, Sept 28.
The event will be held at the SSCS Community Services Building from 4-6 p.m.
Michael Dewey, superintendent of the Bay Arenac Intermediate School District, said the meet and greet will be an opportunity for Kroczaleski to meet with members of SSCS.
“We want people to be able to come in, talk with Darren and spend a little time with him,” he said. “It would be just a nice little way to kick off Darren’s start here.”
Kroczaleski, the former superintendent of Pinconning Area Schools, was released from his contract with PAS at a Sept. 7 Board of Education meeting. He will begin working for SSCS on Sept. 19, and is looking forward to meeting with community members.
“I know a lot of people in the area already,” he said. “It’s nice to get a chance to meet some new faces and I look forward to talking with these folks.”
Dewey said he believes the meet and greet will give everyone an opportunity to meet their new superintendent.
“We want to invite everyone to come out and say hello,” he said. “Community members and staff members will have a great opportunity to do that here.”
As for Pinconning, Kroczaleski said it looks like assistant superintendent Mike Vieau will become the district’s next superintendent.
Vieau was appointed acting superintendent following Kroczaleski’s departure at the Sept. 7 meeting.
“Right now, the board and Mike (Vieau) are working on a potential contract,” Kroczaleski said. “I think it will be finalized sometime around the 26th.”
Kroczaleski said he is grateful for his time at Pinconning.
“I thank the board for the opportunity to be the superintendent at Pinconning Area Schools for the last nine years,” he said. “I had great relationships with everyone I worked with, and I had support from the board and my staff.”
