SSC youth wrestlers bring home sportsmanship award


Standish Sterling Youth Wrestling Team, coached by Bob Alexander and Dan Gasper, traveled to the Sanford-Meridian Northeast Michigan Wrestling Association Tournament on Saturday, bringing home the Team Sportsmanship Award and many medals.

Medaling in the 5-6 age division in second place was Adin Lacy and in third place, Andrew Charbonneau.

Medaling in the 7-8 age division in first place was Luke Allen; second place, Tylor Gibson; and third place Josiah Burkhardt, Jacob Horn and Cole Provoast.

Medaling in the 9-10 age division in first place were Hunter Gasper and Bailey Schalk; second place, Dillon Mayer; and third place, Hunter Preger, James Smith, Jesse Smith and Zeb Wilson.

Medaling in the 11-12 age division in first place, Alex Ball and Ben Lentz; second place, Cassidy Linton; and third place Raymond Rivet.

Medaling in the 13-14 age division in was first place Brett Thayer; second place, Paige Gasper; and third place Matt Crawford.

The Standish-Sterling Youth Wrestling Team will be hosting next Saturday’s tournament at Standish-Sterling Central High School.
