SSC gets win on the road

EVART — Standish-Sterling earned a 55-36 non-conference victory at Evart on Monday, riding a big fourth quarter to break open what had been a close game.

"We played pretty well in the fourth quarter," said SSC coach Tom Murray. "We play at John Glenn on Friday and we'll need to play a lot better than we have been."

Trevor Karbowski scored six of his eight points in the fourth quarter and the Panthers hit all five of their free throw attempts to spark the game-deciding run.

Adam Gulvas led SSC (4-1) with 13 points, with Kevin Reeves and Mark Lorence adding 10 apiece.

Jon Roys led Evart with 11 points.
