SSC ekes out victory at track invitational


STANDISH — At the Sunrise Side Invitational hosted by Standish-Sterling Central on April 18, the boy Panthers were able to squeak by with a one-point victory over the Ogemaw Heights High School Falcons, topping the runner-ups 92-91.

Other teams that participated at the invitational included Meridian High School (75.5), Gladwin High School (56), Whittemore-Prescott (56), Tawas Area High School (50.5), John Glenn High School (40), Sault Ste. Marie (37), Lincoln-Alcona (20) and Beaverton (5).

First place finishers from Standish-Sterling and Whittemore-Prescott include Cole Walderzak, SSC, discus (157’6”); Billy Raushi, W-P, high jump (6’3”) and 110 meter high hurdles (15.94 seconds); Casey Potts, SSC, 300 meter low hurdles (41.5 seconds); and the SSC 800 meter relay team, Potts, Trent Fouchey, Kevin Reeves and Kris Hazeltine (1:33.38).
