S-S cuts building trades, pre-k

STANDISH — At the Standish-Sterling Community Schools (S-S) Board of Education meeting on Monday night, the board voted to suspend its pre-kindergarten program for the 2009-10 school year and also eliminated its building trades program.

The vote to cut the program passed 4-3, with Dr. Leonard LaClair, Gary Egan and Rich Sullivan casting the dissenting votes.

The motion to suspend pre-k for the 2009-10 school year passed 5-2, with Egan and LaClair dissenting.
