Punishment handed down to former city treasurer

Posted

ARENAC COUNTY — Former Standish City Treasurer Melissa McAllister was sentenced to 60 days, or 480 hours, of community service and $23,000 in fines and costs after pleading no contest to willful neglect of duty charges.

Standish City Council fired McAllister last October after it was discovered that she, along with former city manager Tori Kelly, had allegedly misappropriated city funds.

McAllister’s $23,000 in fines includes $21,500 to be paid back to the city of Standish.
