PINCONNING — Pinconning's boys’ basketball team broke out of its habit of playing to the level of its opponents Tuesday, leaving Alcona no opening for an upset while rolling to a 65-37 victory over the Tigers.
"I called a time out when it was 6-6, and the kids responded," said Pinconning coach Tim Floyd. "They only got two points the rest of the quarter."
By then the Spartans led 21-8 on their way to a 41-20-halftime lead. Andrew Holbrook scored 16 of his 20 points in the first half.
Lucas Foco added 14 points for the Spartans (9-3) with Casey Pashak adding 13.
Reid Wilson paced the Tigers (3-6) with 16.
