Pinconning school sees bomb threat

Posted

PINCONNING — The Pinconning Advancement Academy received a bomb threat Feb. 6, prompting the temporary closure of the building.

Pinconning Police Sgt. Terry Spencer said the department received word of a bomb threat at approximately 12:38 p.m., when a handwritten note in the boys bathroom indicated there was a bomb in the building.

Spencer said the building was evacuated, and the Michigan State Police searched the building for a bomb with a canine unit. No explosives were ultimately found, he said.

Spencer said a suspect was detained and arrested, and is currently lodged in the Bay County jail. The incident is still under investigation.

Pinconning Superintendent Mike Vieau said in a press release that the school had resumed normal operations as of Feb. 7, and all safety protocols and critical incident plans were followed properly during the incident.
