One person airlifted from single-car accident

ARENAC COUNTY — A single-vehicle accident on southbound I-75 last week resulted in a brief closure of the highway and one person being airlifted from the scene due to injuries.

According to Michigan State Trooper Tony Wirth, there were two 19-year-old males in the car at the time of the accident. The driver was airlifted, while the other was taken to Saint Mary’s of Michigan Standish Hospital for treatment of his injuries and released. The condition of the driver is unknown at this time.

Both are residents of the Detroit area.

Wirth said the vehicle went off the roadway around the 199 mile marker where it rolled several times before coming to a stop in a swamp. The highway had to be briefly closed to allow the helicopter to land. Wirth said the accident occurred at around 7:56 a.m., Wednesday, April 14.

No names have been released, and no more information is available at this time.
