STANDISH — One person was injured in a traffic accident on US-23 Friday afternoon, outside of the Standish VFW hall.

According to Undersheriff Don McIntyre, at approximately 12:14 p.m., a Dodge pickup driven by a Sterling resident traveling northbound on US-23 was making a left turn into the VFW parking lot.

The driver reportedly pulled in front of an oncoming car that was heading southbound, causing a collision, McIntyre said. The driver of the truck was not injured, while the person driver the car was taken the St. Mary’s of Michigan Standish Hospital with minor injuries. The vehicles were removed from the parking lot at approximately 12:50 p.m.

McIntyre said the department has not yet determined if any traffic citations will be issued for the accident.
