One dead, three injured in two-car accident

STANDISH TWP. — A two-car accident Dec. 30 resulted in one death and three serious injuries, according to a press release from the Arenac County Sheriff’s Office.

The accident occurred at approximately 8:10 p.m. at the intersection of Arenac State Road and Sagatoo Road. The press release said a Dodge Intrepid traveling eastbound on Sagatoo Road failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of the two roads, and collided with a full-sized Ford van traveling north on Arenac State Road.

One occupant was pronounced dead at the scene. Flight care was needed to assist in transporting three other vehicle occupants away from the scene. All three were transported to St. Mary’s of Saginaw and are in serious condition.

Names of the drivers and occupants are currently being withheld, according to the press release.
