OHHS boys win NEMC Jam

WEST BRANCH – Ogemaw Heights dominated the first Northeast Michigan Conference Boys Cross-Country Jamboree of the season Tuesday, Sept. 22 as Falcon runners took five of the top seven finishes to win the meet with 19 points.

Bay City John Glenn finished a distant second with 60 points, Pinconning took third with 78 points, Standish-Sterling Central finished fourth with 88, and Tawas rounded out the field in fifth with 129.

OHHS standout Martin Nelkie won the race in 17:20.58, while teammate Brian Valley took second in 17:57.93. Rounding out the Falcons' top five finishers were George Farmer in fourth (19:05.80), Steven Wysocki in fifth (19:08.46), and Casey Taylor in seventh (19:33.14).

Nick Brandenburg led the Standish effort by placing 13th in 20:50.51, and Drew Hoder paced Pinconning with his 14th place finish in 21:00.47.
