DEEP RIVER TWP. — A garage fire reported at approximately 12:50 p.m. on Grove Road Nov. 19 in Deep River Township did not result in any injuries, according to Sterling Area Fire Department Chief Scott Adams.

Adams said the cause of the fire is unknown.

“They didn’t have power. They didn’t have electricity,” he said. “They were running the house off a generator.”

The garage was a total loss, Adams said. There were many items inside the garage that burnt as well, he said.

“When we got there, it was totally gone,” he said.

The scene was cleared at approximately 5 p.m.

The Standish Area Fire Authority provided mutual aid at the scene.

While firefighters battled the blaze, the Arenac County Sheriff’s Department temporarily directed traffic off of Grove Road away from the fire.
