AFC North

Mike Tomlin’s 2nd season as Steelers’ coach should provide Pittsburgh with an even greater season than last year; the Bengals have too many issues between management, coach, and players to succeed this season; Ravens will make progress with Flacco, but not enough to make playoffs; Browns got some luck last season, it won’t happen again.

AFC East

New England lost its best defensive player from a year ago, and they are getting older and more fragile, don’t expect the magic from ’07, but still good season; J-E-T-S Jets, Jets, Jets or F-A-V-R-E Favre, Favre, Favre…either way look for NY to make strides in the conf.; I like the Pennington/Ginn Jr. combo, not to mention the Williams/Brown combo; Poor Bills…don’t have the talent or experience…or a head coach

AFC South

Nothing new here, same Colts – Peyton, Harrison, Wayne, Sanders, Addai, Freeney; the Texans have been building forever and last season they took off before Johnson got hurt, look for them to surprise this season; Jacksonville, lost Stroud, Garrard is solid, but not a game changer, spells mediocrity to me; Titans scare me, I think their defense is weak, but VY is a complete guess right now, although I do think he will be good in the league.

AFC West

Chargers take this average division no problem, but what about Merriman? Will he hold up all year? Guess we’ll find out; Denver wins 2nd place almost by default; Oakland has two young players running this team, I think McFadden and Russell will thrive eventually, but not this season; KC has two things going for them – Bowe and LJ, can’t win in the NFL with two players.

NFC North

Detroit is a dark horse to most of the league, but I see them in their 3rd season under Marinelli, and they made strides last season, even in the collapse; GB starts a 4th year rookie, components are in place, but will the glue hold? GB hopes so; Does anyone know a player on the Bear’s offense? I don’t; Minnesota will NOT be a contender with Jackson at QB, doesn’t have the tools or the receivers.

NFC East

Stocked with talent, coaches, stars, you name it, the Cowboys have it, the only question is if they can perform in the playoffs; Giants D is still going to be good, even with the loss of Umenyiora and Strahan, they play in a tough division though; Eagles are the most overrated team every year, McNabb gets hurt EVERY year, and this year is no different, plus with no receivers, this should be disastrous; Washington sucks, Campbell sucks, and what’s with not getting Cooley incorporated?

NFC South

Saints have a good core of players, but can they bounce back from the disappointment of last season? I think they’ll be rolling by playoffs; Delhomme just doesn’t do it for me anymore, hasn’t he lost some of his aura? Carolina’s D always seems to be rebuilding; TB has Garcia, which I actually think is a good fit for both, hopefully Cadillac bounces back from injury, TB could ruin my prediction very easy, but let’s wait before I go changing anything; Falcons lost Hall, that wasn’t a smart move, sure he had a few minor troubles, but nothing that was going to hurt this team more than trading him.

NFC West

Seattle brings the experience and consistency to win this terrible division, only question is running back; Arizona has too many questions ala Leinart/Warner and the Boldin situation; St. Louis is in rebuild/get-by mode, don’t see them doing very much this year; 49ers could win some more games, but with a QB controversy it usually doesn’t spell playoffs
