NEMAC tea party speaks the language of flowers

Posted

STANDISH — The Northeast Michigan Arts Council (NEMAC) will host two Victorian Tea Parties, themed “The Language of Flowers,” on June 20 at 12 and 3 p.m.

The event treats arts center patrons to vintage Victorian era refreshments, including tea, dainty sandwiches, scones, cakes and pastries.

Guests of the tea parties will also learn about the time-honored traditions involving flowers, such as Romans honoring heroes with laurel wreaths, the way flowers were extolled by poets in their writing and the use of flowers by Victorians when designing homes and cities.

Tickets are $15 per person and must be purchased in advance. For more information or for information on how to order by mail, call 989-846-9331. Only 40 tickets are available for each party. Tickets must be purchased by June 12.
