NEM players and families gather for annual reunion

The reunion was held inside the courthouse today, as organizer Bob Pelton said he did not receive enough pre-registrations to justify renting a tent.

Guest speaker Rick Rudrow reminisces about his time playing baseball with the NEM. He pitched and played first base for Crump, Standish and Mt. Forest from the age of 14, eventually finding his way to high school and college teams. He played on the Phillies briefly before becoming the Pinconning High School coach for 21 years.

Members of the old Northeast Michigan Baseball League met in Omer July 21 at Ye Olde Courthouse for the annual NEM reunion. Attendees had the opportunity to look through the NEM Museum’s photo albums and records, enjoy a chicken dinner, and honor this year’s hall of fame inductees. Pinconning’s Rick Rudrow, an NEM pitcher and first baseman, was this year’s guest speaker.
