My New Year’s resolution
I always used to think that New Year’s resolutions were stupid and pointless.
Why wait to do something to better yourself at the start of the year when it can be done now?
Well, as it turns out the New Year has become the perfect time for me to start a resolution to better myself.
Two years ago I gave up drinking pop. It started out as a test to see how long I could make it. To be honest, I did not think I could do it past six months. But then six months turned to seven, which turned to eight, and before I knew it December was here.
I made it a year without my precious Pepsi and Mountain Dew. So last year I decided that if I could quit drinking pop, I could quit other things too. So I ate my last hamburger from a fast food restaurant and that was that.
So, currently, I have had no pop in two years and no fast food hamburgers in one year. Now it’s time for something new, but what?
What can I give up this year?
After doing some thinking, I decided that instead of giving up something this year, I want to challenge myself.
What’s the challenge you ask? I want to lose 30 pounds.
It’s out with the husky and in with the less husky.
So whatever it takes to lose 30 pounds, that is what I am going to do. This is the pledge I am giving to myself. I am going to do whatever it takes to do this. It’s not just about losing the weight; I want to become a healthy person and do it the right way.
So starting on Jan. 1, I will begin charting my weight every week and exercising as much as I can.
So maybe by this time next year you might not recognize the person in this picture.
