Most of Arenac County surpasses census participation rate from 2000
ARENAC COUNTY — As of Thursday, April 22, Arenac County currently has a 70 percent participation rate for the U.S. Census, well above the 58 percent return rate from the 2000 Census, according to information form the United States Census Bureau.
The Census Bureau is updating its website regularly with Census participation rates from across the country.
Only Clayton Township and the city of AuGres are still short of the 2000 rate. Clayton Township currently has a participation rate of 64 percent, compared to 65 percent in 2000, and AuGres’ rate is 48 percent, which is short of the 61 percent rate from 2000.
Standish and Arenac townships have the highest participation rates, both at 87 percent.
The county’s participation rate is just below the 71 percent national average as well as the current statewide rate in Michigan, which is 75 percent.
