The efforts of many to preserve Arenac County’s natural resources and agricultural heritage were recognized by the Arenac Conservation District during its annual meeting at the Deep River Township Hall Thursday, Feb. 16. Dr. Ronald Schwab was honored for his work over many years to plant trees in the county and for his dedication to serving farmers by treating farm animals. Lincoln Township farmer Brian Rueger was named the Conservation Farmer of the Year after his operation, Rueger Farms, became the first MAEAP-certified operation in Arenac County. Children who won the conservation district’s poster contest were also announced and received prizes during the event.
