Letter to the editor - Berry
I never got a say in consolidation
This letter is in reference to the front-page article, “District conduct survey to gauge community feelings on consolidation” in the April 1, 2009 edition. The paper stated “the survey mailers were sent to parents of the students and all members of the communities.” I am speaking for my immediate family when I say that we did not get the survey. This exclusion includes two sets of parents that have students currently enrolled in Arenac Easter, and three more property owners that pay school tax to Arenac Eastern School District. Our family has had no students enrolled at AE since 1957 (three generations) and apparently we are not considered important enough for a survey that directly affects our family.
Our Federal and State government cannot satisfy the needs of the taxpayer, even though the taxpayer furnishes the money so carelessly spent. This problem trickles right down to our school districts as being inefficient. It is at these times that one starts to ask who did get the surveys? And furthermore, was anyone represented from the Western side of the district?
