Lady wolverines run past Atlanta


AuGRES-SIMS — The AuGres-Sims girls' basketball team struggled while playing Atlanta for the second time in three days, but played just well enough to get past the Huskies 40-23 on Thursday.

The Wolverines shot just 23 percent from the floor, but held a big rebounding edge and had 17 steals.

Emily Lutz scored 11 points and had nine rebounds and five assists, with Adriane Swaffield adding nine points and seven rebounds and Kelsey Heinrich eight points.

AGS (11-6, 7-4 NSL) clinched a winning season for the second straight year and moved to within a game of second-place Arenac Eastern in the North Star League standings.

Atlanta dropped to 1-13 (0-11).
