Inmate overpowers deputy, escapes with gun

The Arenac County Sheriff’s Department is leading the search, while the Michigan State Police post in Houghton Lake has an incident command sergeant on site.

HOUGHTON LAKE — An inmate being transferred to Arenac County jail by the Arenac County Sheriff’s Department has escaped with a deputy’s gun near M-55, west I-75.

The inmate is 29-year-old Everett Alan Robinson, according to Cadillac’s 9 & 10 News, who was last seen wearing orange clothing. He reportedly overpowered the Arenac sheriff’s deputy, stealing the deputy’s gun and the transport vehicle. The vehicle was later located, but Robinson is still on the loose.

According to the Department of Corrections, Robinson is 5 feet, 10 inches tall, weighs 212 pounds, and has brown hair and hazel eyes. Officials are currently searching for the man.
