ADAMS TWP. — A house on Saunders Road between Morley Road and Moores Junction Road caught fire Feb. 11. There were no reported injuries.
The Sterling Area Fire Department responded to a call around 2:30 p.m. about a structure fire, sending multiple trucks and firefighters to the scene. Fire Chief Scott Adams said when they arrived the house had been evacuated and was fully engulfed in flames.
The Gibson Township Fire Department also sent personnel and tankers to assist, and Adams said the Standish Area Fire Authority joined later in the fight.
Adams said fire crews were fighting the fire until about 7 p.m., and spent another hour cleaning up. Arenac County Sheriff Jim Mosciski said the fire rekindled around 9 p.m., and crews were out fighting that until after 1 a.m. Mosciski added the high winds made the fire difficult to fight.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, Adams said, with no conclusions available by press time. The house is a total loss, he said.
