Hospital hosting class for cancer victims
STANDISH — Cancer can rob a woman of her energy, appetite and strength, but it doesn’t have to take away her self-confidence. Look Good…Feel Better is a free program that teaches beauty techniques to women cancer patients in active treatment to help them combat the appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment, and it is being offered at St. Mary’s of Michigan Standish Hospital on April 13 from 2-4 p.m.
At the class, trained cosmetologists will teach cancer patients how to cope with skin changes and hair loss by using cosmetics and skin care products donated by the cosmetic industry. The free kits given to them women are valued at $350 each and are available in several different shades. Women will also learn to disguise hair loss with wigs, scarves and other accessories.
Class size is limited. To register for Look Good…Feel Better, call the America Cancer Society at 800-227-2345. The American Cancer Society is also looking for volunteers with cosmetology licenses to help out with look Good…Feel Better. To volunteer, call 989-895-1730.
