Here's what we're reading today: Federal gridlock may continue, Martian meteorite's unique nature, and Transocean to pay big fine for oil spill


Here's what stories we're reading today:

- The BBC reports that Transocean, the company that owned the Deepwater Horizon oil rig that caused the gulf spill in 2010, has agreed to a $1.4 billion settlement with the U.S. government after pleading guilty to violating the clean water act.

- CNN has an article up analyzing House Speaker John Boehner's declaration that he will not negotiate with President Barack Obama going forward, and what this could mean for the federal government going forward.

- And finally, Science News has an article about the unique chemical makeup of a Martian meteorite found in the Moroccan Desert. The meteorite was formed 2.1 billion years ago, and indicates a much wetter period in the planet's history.
