Hale sweeps AuGres
HALE - Sep. 11, 2008 - Hale found itself having to adjust its lineup after setter Laura Sidebottom had to sit out Thursday's game due to illness.
That didn't slow down the Eagles, who evened their North Star League record at 1-1 with a 25-20, 25-9, 25-8 victory over AuGres-Sims
"We had to do some major scrambling and make some changes," said Hale coach Heather Chrivia. "Liz Lerczak and Stacey Eno stepped up to the plate and set for us. I also had to take some freshmen and put them in front row hitting positions that they were very unaware and inexperienced in.
"I am just so proud of the way this team pulled together and came out with the win."
The two teams traded the lead throughout the first game.
AGS enjoyed its biggest lead when Kelsey Heinrich served up back-to-back aces to give the Wolverines a 16-14 lead.
But Hale bounced back, serving up Tarra Caverly and Kelsey Reilly on the front line and finishing with a 7-1 run.
Hale never trailed in either of the next two games, which were highlighted by a string of five straight aces from Caverly.
Hale improved to 2-3 overall (1-1 NSL) while the Wolverines are 0-2 (0-2).
Hale Stats: Tarra Caverly 11 aces, 5 kills, 4 digs; Stacey Eno 21/21 serving, 7 aces, 3 assists; Kelsey Reilly 4 aces, 4 kills; Halley Wolkens 3 kills; Liz Lerczak 7 assists, 1 kill.
