STANDISH TOWNSHIP — The cause of a fire in the 2100 block of Palmer Road early Friday morning is under investigation by the Michigan State Police (MSP) Fire Marshall Division.

Sgt. Mike Jenkinson, of the Gladwin MSP post, investigated the scene with Lieutenant Rick Hetu, head of the MSP K-9 special operations unit, on Monday. Jenkinson says the officers, along with K-9 Ky, were searching for signs of accelerants, which would have caused the fire to burn faster.

The fire was reported at approximately 2:35 a.m. Friday, and Standish Area Fire Authority (SAFA) President Doug Ireland says firefighters were on the scene until 6 a.m. No injuries were reported. The trailer house was a total loss after the fire.

Ireland says the Omer-Arenac Fire Department assisted at the scene.
