STANDISH — The Standish-Sterling Community School Board has selected five candidates to interview for the district’s superintendent position.
Acting SSCS Superintendent Michael Dewey said the board chose its top five candidates from a list of 28 applicants.
“I think these candidates were chosen because they all have superintendent experience,” he said. “I think the board chose the best five candidates.”
Brenda Wilson, the former superintendent of Gobles Public Schools, will interview Aug. 16 at 7 p.m. Jerry Jennex, current superintendent of Capac Community Schools, will interview Aug. 17 at 8 p.m. Richard Satterlee, the former superintendent of Hastings School District, will interview Aug. 17 at 7 p.m. Eileen Grant-Bell, the former superintendent of Addison Community Schools, will interview Aug. 17 at 6 p.m. Darren Kroczaleski, current superintendent of Pinconning Area Schools, will interview Aug. 16 at 8 p.m.
Dewey said the members of the SSCS board scored all of the candidates before coming to a list of their top five.
He added that the board is ready to move forward with hiring a new superintendent.
“This has not been an easy process but now we are down to the final stages,” he said. “We are all ready to move forward.”
The SSCS board unanimously rejected a proposal in July that would have made Kroczaleski the superintendent of both SSCS and Pinconning Area Schools.
The proposal was brought to the SSCS board by the Pinconning board. Under the proposal the two districts would have shared administrative services.
