Fire damages home on Pine River Road (update)

STANDISH — The cause of a house fire at 2934 Pine River Road in Standish as yet undetermined.

According to Standish Area Fire Authority Chief Mitch Oliver, no one was home at the time of the fire that occurred at around 12:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Oliver said no one was injured and the cause of the fire is still under investigation. He added that the entire home has been damaged by smoke.

“The fire began in the bedroom, and we are not sure what the cause is at this time,” he said.

Oliver said the cause of the fire does not appear suspicious at this time.

“I have sent my report to the fire marshal to be reviewed,” he said.

The Standish Fire Authority, Arenac County Sheriff’s Department, the Saginaw Tribal Police, Sterling Fire Department and Mobile Medical Response are at the scene.
